If music was an animal, what would it be and why?
I think if music was an animal it would have to be a platypus. A platypus is such a bizzare mash of different ideas, its like 4 different animals had an orgy and thats what popped out. Thats the way i see music and especially drum and bass. It takes influences from the most random of places to create something awesome.
If you had a banana, 2 left ankle socks and a dwarf, where would you take them and what would you do? I think id have to start off by eating the banana and putting the sock on my foot. Then id dress the dwarf up like a leprechaun and hit the town! A leprechaun would be the best wingman ever!
What has been your biggest inspiration during your dance music career?
Its hard to choose just one inspirational thing. Theres so much inspiration in the music scene. One would definitely be going and seeing my favourite producers play their music in a club. Another would be the support of my friends and family and also seeing how well my friends doing at it too. There’s nothing quite like some friendly competition and NZ has some awesome talent in the production and dj scene.
Not satisfied with just DJing at events Pakage started his own events promotion company in early 2007 and started up a monthly Gig at Coherent. The gig showcased DJ and production talent from around New Zealand. Flying DJ and Producers up from Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin to play along side some of Auckland’s best proved a smash hit with the fans.
Pakage ran the monthly DBNZ showcase gigs for just over a year before deciding to give take a break from it and concentrate on his studies and music production.
After being out of the scene for over 18months locked away in the studio Pakage returned to the scene better than ever.
Since his ‘Pakage Returns’ gig at Coherent he’s been easing back into the local Circuit playing at Carpark and Fu Bar and continuing to work on his production.

Subverse
If music was an animal, what would it be and why?
It would be a mongolian death worm, as this animal, on contact, will turn anything it touches yellow and corroded.
If you had a banana, 2 left ankle socks and a dwarf, where would you take them and what would you do?
I would mash the banana into a pulp, and then stuff it into both of the socks… then force the dwarf to put on the socks. Squishy banana dwarf toes.
The biggest inspiration in my dance music career was the gig where I first realised I wanted to become a DJ, at Alix Perez and Lynx at Fu in 2009. This was an amazing gig both music and vibe wise, and before then I hadnt realised I wanted to actually DJ, rather just go to gigs and enjoy the music. This was such a crazy night that I knew I wanted to be a part of the scene as more than just a punter, but someone who was playing the music, and I havnt looked back since.
Sequence:
“I’ve been playing drum and bass for almost two years now, and spinning strictly vinyl for about a year and a half. I enjoy playing all sorts of electronic music as well, from minimal techno through to dubstep through to funky, but drum and bass has always been my biggest interest. Inside the genre, my sets blend a mix of old school techstep, new minimal and deeper tunes, but always keeping the mixes and blends long and creating new sounds from the tunes in the mix!”
Top 5: Places I’ve surfed recently:
1. Indicators – Raglan
2. Port Waikato Reef
3. Shipwreck Bay
4. Piha Bar
5. Forestry, North Auckland

Spec
If music was an animal, what would it be and why?
It would probably be a Tuatara. Why? Because it’s the first thing that came up in google images when i typed ‘animal’.
If you had a banana, 2 left ankle socks and a dwarf, where would you take them and what would you do?
I would grab the Tuatara from Question 1, put socks on it, eat the banana, use the skin as a leash and let the dwarf ride it.
What has been your biggest inspiration during your dance music career?
My biggest inspiration has been, well, the music. I just love it, as soon as Subverse played me ‘bullet in the head’ by black sun empire i was hooked, i wanted to mix it, make it, hear it, breath it, and live it haha. A little fiendy i know but hey.
Spec:
“Well, i’ve been mixing drum and bass music for about three years now. I play as often as i can at the local clubs and always try and get the crowd going with my slightly alternative style of drum and bass, whether its heavy off beat tech, rollers, or minimal tunes, i’ll find a way to slip them into my sets and make them sound good. At the moment i am concentrating quite a lot on my production, and that seems to be coming along nicely. Stay tuned.”
