If music was an animal, what would it be and why?
Hmm…Interesting question….. I think it would have to be a canine – dog. Dogs are considered to be man’s best friends, and I feel that music has the same qualities – it can cheer u up when you are down, it can provide company when you are lonely, it can motivate you, inspire you and change your mood instantly. This is the most logical answer I could come up with, anything else would only make sense if the reader thought I was under the influence of some illicit substance(s), which I am strongly against….
If you had a banana, 2 left ankle socks and a dwarf, where would you take them and what would you do?
I would mash the bananas, fill up both ankle socks with the mashed bananas, take one sock and give the other to the dwarf, and then I would have a 3 round full thai rules ankle sock fight with the dwarf…. Where? Anywhere really…..somewhere not so public in case I get beaten up by the dwarf… Yeah…I’ve got something against dwarfs…
What has been your biggest inspiration during your dance music career?
It would have to be a number of great international/local acts that I was fortunate enough to hear live over the last 12 years of so…I was introduced to the dance music at an innocent age of 15 by a friend of mine, and I started attending dance parties around Auckland – it was the infamous Normanby rd warehouse raves, Powerstation Brain parties, and then The Box nightclub, and so on… Over the years my taste in dance music evolved, and nowadays I seem to enjoy playing anything from DNB and Jungle (which are my old time favourites), to breakbeat, dub, house (tech, deep and minimal only!), techno, etc… The performers which have always inspired me are the ones which were pioneers of their scene, or did something original that was unheard of at that time – and this is not only DJ’s, but great musicians such as The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zep, Jimi Hendrix, etc… Too many to name…. I ve always been inspired by acts such as Concord Dawn and Shapeshifter, because these guys went from humble beginnings to becoming world known, and all this from a tiny island in the middle of the pacific ocean! Just goes to show that if the passion and direction are there, success is guaranteed! The thing about dance music that has always fascinated me, is the way in which it can bring people together, and how it can create a flow of energy between the crowd and the performer to the point that it can send chills down your spine and produce goosebumps! Awesome.
Biography:
My DJ career got the official kick-off at the beginning of 2009, when I joined nsu and Romantech as part of a great team hosting the Beat Dungeon show on UP FM. My goals are to try and DJ wherever and whenever I can… My first ever gig was at the Downbeat Syndrome event in March of 2009, a party organized by my co-hosts, and I hope there’ll be plenty more to come! I would also like to learn more about production side of things and get involved more with production of music and even promotion and marketing. So getting the opportunity to work with the talented music producers and promotion and marketing gurus was like a dream come true for me! Also the opportunity to meet all these talented artists and musicians has been awesome! I also did my first ever radio interview couple of weeks ago, with Mike from Kanuka. Watch this space!!!!

If music was an animal, what would it be and why?
On drugs, because what kind of question is that? Are we sitting in a field like tripping out on herbals like a bunch of freaky hippies? Uhmm actually, make mine a tiger that turns into a robot but is actually an undead alien. With a turret that comes of its head. That shoots lasers into outer space at the enemies. That’s why my animal would waste your animal in a fight.
If you had a banana, 2 left ankle socks and a dwarf, where would you take them and what would you do?
I hate healthy food like fruit. I hate ankle socks. Distinctly feminine. Dwarf? What are you saying? What is this about? What have I got myself into here? I’m pretty important around Auckland y’know. Like seriously. People know who I am.
What has been your biggest inspiration during your dance music career?
I hate grunge and I hate moshpits. Warehouse raves. I’ve got mad whakapapa there – 398, compound, tera meta, normanby et al. When Evan and Matt started getting their songs on the Bfm top 10 I reckoned I could write songs on my computer too. I’ve lost so much money putting on shitty gigs just so people might know my name and listen to my stupid songs I write on my computer. But I can’t turn back. It’s all I know.
