Claudiga
Claudia has been DJing for about almost 4 years now. She was first introduced to a set of turntables in early 2007. After jamming on vinyl’s and mastering beat matching she was then introduced to CDJs. After a year being a bedroom DJ she then entered into the Auckland club scene in December 2007.
Since her entering into the Auckland Club scene she has been booked at most clubs all over Auckland City and even out to the suburbs as far north as Albany and as far south as Papakura. She has also played out of Auckland in Christchurch, Tauranga, Hamilton, Palmerston North and Mangawhai.
Claudia has also promoted several of her own events. One of the events had such a massive turnout that it blew the bar record in Code! The night was so successful that Claudia was asked to throw a party at Code every other month.
Her playing style ranges from house – tech house – electro house with her favourite genre being: dirty house & driving electro!
Thanks to her CD wallet containing a variety of styles she also plays at plenty of private parties and 21st birthdays.
While she is booked mostly for her bangin’ electro sets, she has also now branched out into the house and commercial music scene – in mid 2009 she had a short term residency organising Friday nights at Sponge Bar in Ponsonby. She is also a regular on the all female events Teaze and Cheeky Chicks and DJs regularly at well known hotspots Met & Code and Bungalow 8.
During her time on the scene, Claudia has supported the likes of Lisa Lashes, Ryan Riback, Keli Hart, Bass Kleph, Frew, John Course, Goodwill, Aston Shuffle, Paul Webster, Dr Willis, FuntCase, TyDi, Dane Rumble and Bullet proof. She has played and is regularly booked at big events such as Ministry of Sound, Slinky and all ages dance parties Forte Dance Fiesta and Sound Factory.
Claudia has also been a radio show host for the past 2 and a half years on UPFM. Her first show was the Crooked Grind with co-host Brett Bronze. Claudia and Brett initially started out with a show time of 9am-noon every Sunday morning but in mid 2010 were promoted to Tuesday evenings 6-8pm. Claudia has now parted ways with Brett and now has her own radio show every Thursday 8-10pm.
With her true passion for dirty electro, driving bass lines and bouncing tech she has quickly learnt how to set the dance floor alight!
Claudia is also at the moment learning how to produce her own music and in January 2011 released her first track with many more to come! Keep an eye on her Soundcloud page (see link below) for tracks and mixes by Claudiga.

If music was an animal, what would it be and why?
An “Echidna” – if you can tell me what this is I’ll tell you why………
If you had a banana, 2 left ankle socks and a dwarf, where would you take them and what would you do?
I’d take the banana to Onemana, I’d take the ankle socks and put them on rocks when I drop the dwarf somewhere up north…..
What has been your biggest inspiration during your dance music career?
The biggest highlight of my dance music career would be when I was booked for my first big dance party, Ministry of Sound a couple of years back now. Having the opportunity of playing on such a big and powerful system was such a buzz! And also having the opportunity to support heavyweight international DJs John Course, Goodwill and Aston Shuffle was an honour.
My inspiration would definitely be my love for the music. I have always had a massive love and passion for music. Since a young age, I was always online searching for music and making CDs. Back in the days before CDs, I used to sit in my room for hours on end listening to the radio waiting for my favourite songs to come on and I would then record them with my cassette player! I also used to try and record myself singing… I soon learnt that singing was most definitely NOT my forte! haha
As for DJing itself, when I turned 18 I was straight into the clubbing scene, being such a party girl and all! I really enjoyed going out with my friends and seeing all different DJs play, so I guess I found my love for the music through a lot of great nights out on the town! I was then introduced to a set of turntables in early 2007 through friends who were also getting into mixing, so I thought I would give it a go as well and I haven’t looked back since!

If music was an animal, what would it be and why?
The ocean. For all the reasons you can think of..cuz the ocean is basically an animal isn’t it?
If you had a banana, 2 left ankle socks and a dwarf, where would you take them and what would you do?
I’d give the socks to someone that needed them, probably try to mix the banana into some kind of strong cocktail, and take the dwarf raving..mykonos..beach rave, yaaa!
What has been your biggest inspiration during your dance music career?
Daft Punk. Best show EVER. Or the feeling of playing to thousands of people dancing on the beach, that’s pretty inspirational too.
Gina. Cat. Bass. Party. The Cat found her talent at the age of 18 amidst the many dub and drum and bass DJ’s in New Zealand. Growing up in BC, Canada lead her to Whistler where she shook up full moon parties, has played many big festivals including Soundwave, and became a resident DJ at Tommy Africa’s Nightclub. Her travels have taken her around the globe where she’s picked up her wild melange of rare beats that promises a packed dance floor, whichever the occasion. Gina Cat throws down everything from dubstep and drum and bass, glitch, all kinds of house and electro, to funk, soul and dub, but her specialty is grimy tech house and big fidgety breaks. This is a girl that lives to have fun and is guaranteed to make you want to party. Meow.
